Emile Novis

Emile Novis is a pseudonym of French philosopher Simone Weil, whose writings on work and labour, violence and force, and responsibilities and grace are hugely influential. She escaped France during the war and died, it is thought, from self-starvation due to her extreme sympathy with those she had left behind. Here at DADDY Emile is less brilliant and she functions as a polemical and of course insufficient intervention into the hyper-complex issue of identity and identification.
